The 2023-2024 school year has come to an end! It has been a fantastic year of growth and learning. Now it’s time to relax and recharge. The Demopolis City Schools' Child Nutrition Program department received a grant, Beyond the Serving Line, for the School Year 2023-2024. Patrick Allen, the manager at Demopolis High School, Lakeasha Wilson Patrick, Assistant Manager at Demopolis High School, and Aretha Littles, CNP Director for Demopolis City Schools, participated in a week-long class in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On the final day of the classes, Chef Robert Rhymes introduced multicultural cuisine to all the participants.
As a requirement of the grant, a taste test was conducted on campus for the students. On May 2, 2024, Manager Patrick Allen prepared the foods that were introduced during the training class. The top three picks were Latin chicken bites, pineapple ginger tea, and Chili lime fruit Salad. We are now working on getting these top picks on the school menu for next fall.
We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who tried our multicultural cuisine.
