Unity Day is a yearly event in the United States that takes place during National Bullying Prevention Month in October. The event's goal is to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying in the commUNITY!
The Alabama State Board of Education has recognized 14 schools and 2 school districts for their strong commitment to Alabama’s K-3 learners, particularly for demonstrating growth in outcome data for proficiency and sufficiency that exceeds the state average. Today, Demopolis City Schools is honored as one of only two districts this year in the state to be named a Science of Reading Spotlight School District. Fall Break is almost here! Friday, October 11, teachers will be on campus for Data Day. Students will NOT report to school Friday. Students will return to school Wednesday, October 16. This is a great time to wash and disinfect backpacks and lunchboxes to keep the germs away! Enjoy this time with your family!

Tonight is our Literacy and Stem Night! The homeroom in each grade with the most attendance will be rewarded!
We have a super busy week coming up! Grandparents' Day lunches will be held Tuesday-Thursday. See the schedule for the dates and times for each grade. We will also be having our Literacy and STEM night on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Due to the threat of severe weather,
Thursday, September 12, 2024, will be an e-learning day for all students.
All campuses will be closed for the day.

Due to the forecast of rain from Hurricane Francine, the DHS Homecoming Parade and Bonfire scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2024, has been cancelled.

Our Grandparents' Day lunches are being held next week. Order forms for meal tickets were sent home last week. Please return those forms with money by this Friday to make your lunch reservations! Ask your 4th or 5th grader which teacher takes them to lunch. They do not go to lunch with their homeroom teacher. Do not forget to visit the photo booth. Order forms for that will be sent home soon. They will give that to us when they come for their picture. Please do not send photo money before then!
It's Homecoming week! Let's show the Tigers some support! Make sure to wave to our USJ Beta Club float in the parade on Thursday evening!
Progress reports will be sent home on Thursday, September 5th! Check those backpacks!
Grandparent's Day lunch flyers and meal ticket order forms are going home today! Please make sure to get your meal ticket order turned in by next Friday, September 13th.
The lunch times will be posted soon. If you have other grandchildren at USJ, you can come on multiple days OR if you want to eat with them together, on the same day , please send a note attached to their meal ticket order form. Please lists the student's names and what day you plan to come. If possible, come on the older siblings designated day.
September is attendance awareness month! Those with 100% attendance will be rewarded!
