Our teachers are playing Secret Santa this week. To help keep the gift giver's name a secret, we have some very helpful elves from Ms. Davis' class delivering the gifts!

Congrats to 5th grader, Trinity Cole, on winning the Chili Fest pageant last night! You go girl!

3rd grade will be spreading Christmas cheer next week!

The Gingerbread Man is loose at USJ! After reading the book "The Gingerbread Man Loose at Christmas" several fourth and fifth grade classes went on missions to find the Gingerbread Man at USJ! They used the app Goose Chase to document their missions with photo evidence! Sadly, the mischievous Gingerbread man was found at the Principals office !

First shout-outs of December!!

Today the Alabama Power Foundation awarded Mrs. Helms' science classes a grant to continue the creation and maintenance of our school garden. This garden will provide an extension to their classroom learning. #thedemopolisdifference

U.S. Jones Beta Club encouraged all students to make Christmas card for military personnel stationed overseas. Mrs. Anne came and picked up our cards this morning. She shared with us all of her relatives who have served on the military. We even got to see the huge plane her son flies.

Hats off to the chefs!! The USJ cafeteria chefs outdid themselves with this year's Thanksgiving feast! It was delicious!!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Beta Club and Demopolis Rotary Club food drive. We were a little short of our goal of 3,000 items, but after Mr. Shipman challenged the students to bring in more, we exceeded our goal and collected 3,298 non-perishable food items. We hope this act of service has taught our students that it is better to give, than to receive! Although this was a friendly competition between classes, the real winners are the recipients of this donation.

Students created Thanksgiving themed art in Mrs. Mackey's art class!

Mrs. Harrison visited some third grade classrooms to share a book, make a literacy snack, and work on some creative writing.
