Mr. Derrick Hester, Coordinator of Curriculum & Instruction

Demopolis City School System is comprised of four schools with one common goal to prepare our students to be college and career ready by the time they graduate from high school. To achieve this goal, effective teaching and learning must take place at all levels throughout the students’ educational journey. Through effective partnerships, district administrators, school administrators, instructional coaches, teachers, staff, and community leaders work collaboratively to enhance and to expand the educational opportunities for the students of Demopolis. Through the collaborative partnerships, a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum and instruction program has emerged that allows the students to be leaders of their own learning in the classrooms and promotes student learning through the alignment of Alabama College and Career Ready Standards and administration of district and state assessments. The learning culture throughout the classrooms in the district promotes creativity, curiosity, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving among the students of Demopolis City Schools.
